On Monday, Libyan National Army (LNA) forces freed Romanian national Valentin-Laurentiu Puscasu and Libyan national Ashraf Msallam. The two oil field works had been kidnapped by gunmen on July 14, 2018, when several armed militias controlled southern Libya.

On November 5, 2018, Romanian Consul to Libya Adrian Brâncoveanu met with National Oil Corporation (NOC) Chairman Mustafa Sanalla to discuss measures to free the two employees.

The two sides discussed latest developments regarding employees who had been kidnapped by unknown armed groups. The NOC Chairman stressed that the Board of Directors would continue to push for a speedy resolution and their rightful return to safety.
