Libya’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Najla Al-Mangoush, confirmed that her visit to Italy aimed mainly to activate the joint friendship treaty between Libya and Italy that was signed in 2008.
In a video, Al-Mangoush added that she had concluded her visit to Italy which lasted two days. During these two days, meetings were held with several Italian Ministers such as the Ministers of Interior, Defence, Trade and Development and the Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, in addition to an extended meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Libya’s Foreign Minister indicated that the visit achieved satisfactory results related to improving the services provided to the citizen through the reopening of the Italian Consulate in Benghazi and the Honorary Consulate in Sebha to facilitate visa procedures and administrative procedures for the citizen. A date has also been agreed upon for the restoration of air navigation between Libya and Italy.
According to the Minister, it has also been agreed to directly commence the implementation of the coastal road project which starts from Imsaad to Ras Ajdir to facilitate the transportation process and provide services between the East and West of the country.
Al-Mangoush explained that during the visit many issues were discussed, including training, illegal immigration, southern border control and coastguard control. She confirmed that discussions are continuing pertaining to these files. She further calls for more meetings at the ministerial level and at the level of technical committees from the Ministries of Interior, Defence, and Trade.
She pointed out that the meetings in Italy were successful and characterized by the seriousness of reaching mutually satisfactory results.
