Haftar Meets Egyptian Intelligence Chief in Benghazi

On Thursday, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar held a meeting with, Major General Abbas Kamel, Head of the Egyptian Intelligence Service (GIS) in Benghazi. As part of orders by President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi to enhance joint cooperation between Egypt and Libya.

President El-Sisi praised the efforts of the LNA to achieve internal stability and combat terrorism, and stressed the vital role of the Libyan military institution in protecting the capabilities of the people.

During the meeting, Kamel expressed Egypt’s appreciation for the sacrifices made by the LNA in its fight against terrorism, emphasising the important role of the military institution in securing the upcoming constitutional entitlements, especially the elections, scheduled for December 2021.

Haftar affirmed his deep appreciation for President El-Sisi’s interest in Libya, and the influential role Egypt was playing to ensure the success of political efforts and the restoration of stability in Libya.
