On Saturday, the Municipal Council of Misrata decided to cancel the 24-hour curfew announced a week earlier, announcing new measures aimed at curbing the coronavirus outbreak in Libya.

In a statement, the council announced a partial curfew in Misrata, from 2 p.m. to 7 a.m. The curfew will take into effect starting today until further notice.

The municipal council also set the official working hours in all bodies to start at 9 a.m. and end at 2 p.m, noting that public institutions will be assigned to organise the work in a way that ensures the continuity of services provided to Libyan citizens.

The council stated that public and private health institutions, military factions and gas stations will be exempt from the latest decision.

The council also stressed the necessity of avoiding gatherings and crowded places, in addition to abiding by all precautionary measures and instructions issued by the competent authorities regarding the prevention of the virus’ spread.

It is noteworthy that the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in Libya announced on Saturday the recording of six new cases of coronavirus, raising the number of confirmed cases to 17, including one death.
