Libya’s Interior Minister Discusses Elections with Ageela Saleh

Libyan Interior Minister, Khaled Mazen met with the Speaker of the Libyan Parliament, Ageela Saleh, to discuss the procedures for securing the upcoming general elections.

“The ministry seeks to create a safe atmosphere for voters and ensure the success of this entitlement,” its statement read.

Mazen briefed the Parliament Speaker on the current security situation, and the efforts exerted by the MoI in maintaining safety and security.

Libya is preparing to hold presidential and parliamentary elections on 24 December 2021. However, no consensus on the constitutional basis to hold the upcoming elections has been reached.

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) said that the Libyan people will certainly feel let down, as they still aspire to exercise their democratic rights in the December elections.
