Libyan Member of Parliament (MP), Jaballah Al-Shaibani urged the United Nation Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) to help accelerate the process of removing foreign forces from Libya. He explained that the presence of mercenaries “impedes” the holding of elections in the country.

In remarks to Russia’s Radio Sputnik on Saturday, MP Jaballah said that the reopening of Libya’s strategic coastal road linking the East and the West, “will have a significant impact on establishing the ceasefire and calming the situation in Libya.”

“This step will facilitate the task of the 5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC) in removing mercenaries and foreign forces and unifying the Libyan military establishment,” he explained.

He pointed out the JMC is the responsible for securing traffic on the coastal road, adding that it takes all precautionary and security measures by inspecting cars, verifying the identity of people and monitoring developments.
