April 9, 2020

The United Kingdom has welcomed the EU’s efforts to enforce the UN arms embargo on Libya through a naval operation named “IRINI”.

The Permanent Mission of the United Kingdom to the UN called on all parties in Libya to enforce self restraint, bring an end to the fighting, and allow Libya to confront the COVID-19 threat.

The UK reiterated its belief that there was no military solution to the conflict in Libya, only a political one would bring peace to the country.
