Benghazi’s COVID-19 Committee reviews Situation of Libyans Abroad

The Higher Committee to Combat Coronavirus in Benghazi reviewed the strategic food stocks of the city, as well as discussing the wellbeing of citizens stranded abroad due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Committee which was chaired by Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Abdel-Razek Al-Nadhuri, highlighted the steps taken to accommodate Libyan citizens stranded abroad due to Libya’s decision to close all land, air and sea borders. These came as part of the government’s precautionary measures to stop the spread of the virus in the country.

The Committee stressed the need to accommodate the stranded nationals, until the Medical Advisory Committee, allows their return to Libya. The Medical Committee
will work to ensure that no national has contracted the virus before being released from quarantine.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has confirmed that it has begun to rent a number of hotels in various countries to accommodate Libyan nationals abroad.
