Libya Confirms 13 New COVID-19 Cases, Raising Total to 48

Libya’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced the discovery of thirteen new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the country’s total to 48 cases.

The NCDC stated that it had received a total of 62 samples, 49 of which were negative. It is the biggest daily increase since Tuesday’s announcement of nine new cases.

The NCDC also announced that two further cases had recovered, bringing the total of recoveries to eleven.

The head of the NCDC, Dr.Badr Al-Din Al-Najjar, said on Wednesday that non-adherence of the precautionary measures implemented by the government had contributed to the spread of the virus.

Al-Najjar also called for greater precautionary measures concerning home isolation and curfew periods to prevent the spread of the virus.
