Acting Special Representative of the UN Secretary General Stephanie Williams spoke with the Head of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, about the latest developments in Libya.

The two discussed Al-Sarraj’s recent statement in which he called on all parties and political forces to accelerate the resumption of political dialogue under the auspices of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).

Williams said that this statement, coupled with other positive initiatives that have recently been announced, were creating momentum that could bring an end to the fighting and revive a comprehensive political process.

Williams also expressed the Mission’s readiness to resume political talks based on the outcomes of the Berlin Conference and the contents of Security Council Resolution No. 2510.
