Ukraine Calls For The Release of Sailors Detained in Libya

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reiterated a request for the release of fourteen of its citizens who have been detained in Libya since 2017.

The Director of the Consular Service Department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Serhii Pohoreltsev, explained that Libya was responsible for the safety of the sailors.

He added that Ukraine was using all diplomatic and legal channels to secure their release, especially with the threat of COVID-19 in the country.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, called on his Libyan counterpart, Mohamed Siala, to help release the Ukrainian nationals and facilitiate their return.
