The Foreign Minister of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Mohamed Siala, discussed recent developments in Libya with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Çavuglu, in light of the GNA’s recent takeover of the Al-Watiya airbase.

In a phone call, the two discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between their respective governments, in addition to the conditions of Libyan nationals in Turkey and ways of further Libyan-Turkish cooperation in combating the global COVID-19 pandemic.

On Tuesday, the Interior Minister of the GNA, Fathi Bashaga, met with Turkey’s Ambassador to Libya, Serhat Aksen, and discussed the latest developments in Tripoli and the western region.

Bashaga praised Turkey for supporting the GNA against the Libyan National Army (LNA).
