On Wednesday, Libya’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 20 COVID-19 cases and one death.
This brings the total number of Coronavirus cases in Libya to 99 and the death toll to 4.
In its latest statement, the NCDC said that most of the new cases registered today were passengers who had recently returned from Turkey.
The Security Directorate in the city of Sabha announced that it will impose a total curfew in the city for two weeks starting Wednesday, May 27.
The directorate explained that the decision was made after the city registered a number of Covid-19 cases and one death due to complications from the virus in the southern municipality.
Libya currently has 33 active cases under medical observation, 40 successful recoveries and 4 deaths.
Several Arab countries have tightened restrictions on movement and travel with the aim of curbing the spread of the virus.
Trillions of dollars have been pledged in economic stimulus packages around the world to reduce the economic repercussions of the crisis.
