The Libyan National Weightlifting Team continues its preparations to participate in the World Open Championships of Weightlifting, which will be hosted by Malta from 11-17 June.
Libya will participate with three athletes, Abdullah Hajar, Abdul Rahman Musa, and Mohamed Al-Hamali.
The preparations are continuing under the supervision of the national coach, Tariq Makhlouf.
The team is also preparing for the World Junior Weightlifting Championship, which will be hosted by Romania from 23 August to 3 September. As well as the World Masters Championship, which will be hosted by Mongolia from 8-15 October. In addition to participating in the African Championship, which will be hosted by Algeria from 24-29 October.
Libyan weightlifter, Ihsan Ali Shalabi, won two silver and one bronze medal in the 73-kilogram weight category of the African Senior Championship, held in Egypt from 26 October to 1 November 2022.
Shalabi also won silver in the African Club Cup competitions, the first Libyan athlete to do so.
Libya participated in the African Weightlifting Championships with, Ihsan Shalabi, Ahmed Abu Razbeya, and Omar Al-Ajmi Mohamed.
Notably, Bashir Al-Duwaibi won bronze in the World Karate Championship in the under 63 kilograms category.
Al-Duwaibi won in the first rounds of the tournament in four matches against the Spanish champion with a score of 1-2, and against the Japanese champion with a score of 3-0. The Libyan athlete also defeated the Moroccan champion 3-2, and the Albanian champion 4-0.
