Russian Ambassador to Ankara Alexei Yerkhov said that Russia and Turkey have similar goals and objectives in Libya, stating there was a good basis for joint work and a comprehensive Libyan settlement.

“If you look carefully, it turns out that our goals and tasks we are formulating at the present stage are quite similar to those Turkey has set for itself,” Yerkhov said on the website of the Russian diplomatic mission in Turkey.

“Both Russia and Turkey support the early cessation of hostilities throughout Libya, as well as the immediate resumption of peace negotiations between the parties to the conflict under international auspices. This must be in accordance with the decisions of the Berlin Conference and UN resolutions”, he said, adding, “This seems to be a good basis for our countries to work together for a Libyan settlement”.

In response to the American statements about transporting Russian fighter jets to Libya, Yerkhov re-directed this question to the United States, “we must ask them, where are these planes now? What do they do? Where is their proof that these are Russian aircraft really?”

“When believing the fake propaganda itself that Russian planes are usually involved in bombing hospitals, schools, and other things of social importance. We have not seen any of this until now … Ask the Americans.” The Russian diplomat said.
