Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio discussed the latest developments in Libya with his German counterpart, Heiko Maas, in Berlin on Friday.

Before traveling to Germany on Thursday, Di Maio said that he would speak with Maas about the situation in Libya.

They also would discuss the reopening of borders between European Union member states.

The Italian Minister called for the rapid activation of satellite monitoring capabilities to ensure the neutrality of the EU’s Operation ‘IRINI’.

The operation is due to implement the UN arms embargo on Libya.

He expressed his hope that the process would receive sufficient air and maritime contributions from member states.
