On Friday, the Benghazi Security Directorate (BSD) announced a change in the city’s curfew hours. In response to recommendations by Benghazi’s Security Director Adel Abdulaziz, the curfew hours have been amended to last from 6 am – 7 pm.

The Directorate stated that the new curfew hours were aimed at allowing citizens to continue to go about their daily lives.

The BSD added that these preventive measures are part of its efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19 in Libya.

This is based on the precautionary measures of the ‘Supreme Committee to Combat Coronavirus’ to prevent the spread of the virus in Libya.

The Libyan National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) recently reported 209 confirmed cases.

This figure includes five Coronavirus-related deaths and 52 successful recoveries.

Several Arab countries have tightened restrictions on movement, and travel to curb the spread of the virus.

Trillions of dollars have been pledged in economic stimulus packages around the world to reduce the economic repercussions of the crisis.
