Libya’s General Authority for Hajj and Umrah has announced the deaths of two pilgrims in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The deceased have been identified as Musabah Youssef Ibrahim Abu Sha’ala, and Mohamed Sa’ad Abdullah Al-Sudani.
The General Authority for Hajj and Umrah stated that Abu Sha’ala passed away on Wednesday at the Mina Hospital in Mecca. He was a member of the Al-Wasta Coordination Group (835).
The authority also reported that Al-Sudani passed away on Wednesday at the King Abdulaziz Hospital (Al-Zahir) in Mecca. He was a member of the Tripoli Coordination Group (123).
Earlier this week, Ali Mohamed Bashir Hamouda, the Head of the General Authority stated that “all 8,150 members of the Libyan Hajj mission have been safely transported to Arafat with ease and security.” In a recorded message broadcast by the authority, Hamouda expressed his relief that the Hajj pilgrims arrived at Arafat without any injuries, describing it an encouraging sign.
He wished for the continued success and good fortune of the pilgrims and emphasised that the committees responsible for the facilities, transportation, and services had cooperated and performed their duties well.
Earlier on Tuesday, the authority shared photos of the pilgrims standing at Arafat.
According to the authority, each pilgrim was provided with a bag containing some dry food, and a hot meal was provided on the day of Arafat, along with another bag of dry food upon their arrival at the Mina site.
The Hajj pilgrimage is a crucial event for Muslims worldwide and is a source of great spiritual significance and fulfilment.
Notably, the General Authority had previously announced the death of two Libyan pilgrims in Mecca on Saturday.
In a statement, the authority said that “Mabrouka” from the Western Mountain Coordination Group 279, died at King Abdulaziz Hospital.
The statement added that it is expected that her funeral prayer will be held at the Grand Mosque after the Isha prayer, following the completion of burial procedures by the Saudi authorities.
