On Saturday, Hussein Al-Qatrani, Libya’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Livestock participated in a crucial consultative meeting held by the Ministers of the African Union and the European Union. This was on the sidelines of the 43rd session of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) General Conference in Rome, Italy.
During the conference, Al-Qatrani seized the opportunity to hold a series of bilateral meetings with several ministers.
The aim was to explore avenues for enhanced cooperation in various agricultural sectors, and reaffirm Libya’s commitment to contributing to the global agricultural landscape. As well as the restoration of Libya’s voting rights within FAO, and strengthening its leadership role within the organisation.
The discussions focused on establishing collaborative frameworks to address mutual challenges, exchange expertise, and promote sustainable agricultural practices. Al-Qatrani emphasized Libya’s eagerness to actively engage with international partners, and expressed the country’s commitment to playing a prominent role in global agricultural initiatives.
Al-Qatrani demonstrated Libya’s dedication to fostering meaningful partnerships, and enhancing its presence in international organizations such as FAO.
These efforts are aimed at leveraging collective expertise, to drive agricultural development and ensure food security for the nation.
The FAO General Conference is a crucial gathering that takes place every two years, bringing together representatives from member countries to discuss global food and agriculture-related issues.
