On Monday, the General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA) said that Turkey was abusing its NATO membership in order to intervene in Libya. It called on NATO members to acknowledge that the Turkish intervention threatened the security and stability of Libya, neighboring countries, and the region.

In an official statement, the LNA General Command said, “We confirm that the safety, unity, and sovereignty of Libya is something that can never be forfeited or compromised. The LNA, with the help of friendly countries, will defend our homeland against any Turkish attempts to destabilize Libya and the region”.

It added that Turkey has been sending weapons and thousands of foreign fighters to Libya in order to further fuel the conflict and drag the country into complete chaos.

The statement also condemned the blatant violations committed by these forces in the towns and cities adjacent to Tripoli. It highlighted reports of human rights violations in Tarhuna, Qasr bin Ghashir, Al-Urban, and other towns that have recently been captured by forces aligned with the Government of National Accord (GNA). The statement said that such destruction and criminal activities led to the displacement of thousands of civilians.

The LNA vowed that it would continue to defend Libya, while restoring securit and stability in the country. It added that it would also respond positively to international efforts that aim to end current hostilities.
