In a significant meeting held today at the European Union Mission in Tripoli, the Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Abdoulaye Bathily, was warmly received, marking a crucial step in international efforts to stabilize the Libyan political landscape.
The EU Ambassador to Libya expressed pride in hosting this pivotal meeting, underscoring the European Union’s commitment to supporting Bathily’s efforts in fostering national consensus among all Libyan stakeholders. This initiative is aimed at ensuring the conduct of inclusive, and transparent elections in the country.
In his statement, the Ambassador emphasized the “necessity for all Libyan actors to constructively participate in the political process and to take effective steps towards holding elections.” This is in response to the Libyan people’s call for establishing legitimate institutions in their country.

On Tuesday, Bathily met with a delegation from the Social Council of the Warfalla tribes, led by its Head, Sheikh Ageela Najem.
The meeting discussed advancing the political process, and holding elections in the country.
