Libya’s High National Elections Commission (HNEC) has officially concluded the registration process for civil society organizations, willing to oversee the election proceedings.
In a statement, the commission expressed gratitude to all organizations that submitted their applications for the “Partners for Elections” program.
HNEC reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing collaboration with civil society organizations. This is to ensure the success of the electoral process, and boost electoral awareness within the community.
“The commission looks forward to embarking on this journey together,” the statement said.
“For organizations that have not completed the application process, the commission acknowledges their interest in participating in the program. These organizations can expect further communication via email to finalize the application process promptly,” the statement concluded.
Last week, the Prime Minister of the Libyan Parliament-designated government, Osama Hammad pledged comprehensive support for HNEC in managing future elections.
This was emphasized during a meeting with HNEC’s Head, Emad Al-Sayeh, which included Local Governance Minister Sami Al-Dawi, State Minister for Migration Affairs Fathi Al-Tabawi, and several MP’s.
Discussions revolved around the revision of electoral laws, and the strategic distribution of 142 electoral districts across Libya.
The meeting underscored the importance of collaboration, aiming to ensure the active electoral participation of Libyan citizens.
Hammad stressed the government’s dedication to meeting the citizens’ electoral aspirations, highlighting the mobilization of resources to back the Commission’s efforts.
This initiative reflects Libya’s ongoing journey towards democratic governance, and the stabilization of its political landscape.
