On Saturday, the Benghazi Security Directorate announced that members of the arresting unit attached to the Criminal Investigation Department successfully apprehended a drug dealer in the Al-Kish area.
The operation followed stringent instructions from Benghazi Security Director, Major General Ahmed Al-Shamakh, emphasising the need to combat drugs and intoxicants. Under these directives, Colonel Khaled Al-Rabahi, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department, devised a targeted plan involving continuous, alternating patrols throughout the city.
The press release detailed how the arresting unit, during their patrol near the 7,000 residential units in the Al-Kish area, spotted a suspicious individual in a vehicle. Closer surveillance revealed the individual’s involvement in trafficking hallucinogenic pills.
Security forces promptly apprehended the suspect, and conducted a precautionary search of the vehicle, discovering 18 strips of hallucinogenic pills, totalling 173 tablets. The suspect, identified only as A.J.A., was taken to the station for questioning. During the interrogation, A.J.A. confessed to the charges, and was subsequently transferred to the Drug and Psychotropic Substances Control Agency.
This latest arrest underscores the dedication of the Benghazi Security Directorate in eradicating the drug trade, and highlights the ongoing efforts to maintain safety and security in the region.

According to the Directorate’s statement, members of the apprehension unit attached to the Bohdima Criminal Investigation Department successfully arrested the suspect, who owned a metal suitcase containing a substantial quantity of hashish.
The incident unfolded as officers patrolling the Bohdima area grew suspicious of an individual carrying a metal suitcase. Upon a search, they discovered 21 medium-sized and three large pieces of hashish inside the case.
The suspect, identified only by his initials “K.A.A.,” has been transferred to the Anti-Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Agency, for further investigation.
