Benghazi University’s College of Medical Sciences recently held the inaugural Medical Conference on Therapeutic Nutrition and Food Sciences. Organised by the Libyan Association for Food and Nutrition, the event spanned two days and featured extensive participation from specialist doctors.
According to the statement, the conference delved into the latest scientific advancements in medical nutritional care. This exploration was facilitated through various research papers and scientific presentations discussed during the conference sessions.
Dr. Amina Al-Shekhteriya, the Head of the conference’s scientific committee, emphasised the significance of this conference. She noted that it was the first of its kind focusing on therapeutic nutrition, proving to be highly valuable not only for graduates of public health and therapeutic nutrition departments, but also for doctors across various specialties.
She also called for the distribution of the conference’s recommendations through booklets, to be circulated across various hospitals and medical centers. As well as highlighting the importance of this information, suggesting it could greatly assist medical teams and patients alike.
Furthermore, Dr. Miloud Al-Ammari, a faculty member at Benghazi University’s School of Public Health, shared his insights on the role of food in the therapeutic aspect of patient care. He stressed the urgent need for such conferences to be held regularly, underscoring the critical role of therapeutic nutrition in improving patient health conditions.
