A delegation consisting of Egyptian businessmen and representatives from 15 engineering firms has held discussions with the Director of the Engineering Export Council of Egypt (EECC) about an upcoming visit to Libya. This visit, spanning a week, will include engagements with Libyan commerce chambers and economic institutions across several cities, marking the first such initiative in over a decade, supported by the Union.
EECC Director Mai Helmi highlighted the strategic importance of the Libyan market for Egypt’s engineering sector, noting its capacity to absorb Egyptian engineering products. Helmi stated, “there is an agreement to increase the export of Egyptian engineering goods to Libya, signaling the start of expanded cooperation.”
During a meeting at the Libyan Embassy in Cairo, Mohamed Al-Hwaij, Libya’s Minister of Economy and Trade in the Government of National Unity (GNU), discussed Libya’s crucial position as an entry point to Africa and emphasized the importance of a sustainable Libyan-Egyptian partnership for mutual economic development.
Minister Al-Hwaij invited Egyptian firms to the 50th Tripoli International Fair in May, aiming to bolster Egyptian presence in the Libyan market and encourage the establishment of manufacturing operations in Libya in compliance with local investment and trade regulations.
Participants showed interest in various investment opportunities, including fisheries development, water desalination and oil water treatment projects, as well as ventures in furniture, cotton clothing, construction, and environmentally friendly agricultural pesticides.
