The United States Embassy in Libya declared its willingness to collaborate with Libyan municipal leaders on Thursday, aiming to foster a comprehensive framework for the country’s reconstruction efforts. This initiative underscores the US commitment to aiding Libya in post-conflict recovery and rebuilding, particularly in regions affected by recent floods.

In a statement on its official “X” account (formerly Twitter), the embassy detailed engagements of the USAID representative in Libya, Cardenas, with mayors of key eastern municipalities like Derna, Shahhat, Al-Sahel, Al Bayda, and Omar Al Mukhtar. These discussions served as a pivotal moment for the United States to reiterate its ongoing support for Libyan communities impacted by natural and man-made calamities.

The embassy emphasized the importance of adopting a reconstruction approach rooted in transparency and inclusivity, reflecting the aspirations and needs of the Libyan populace.

“We are honored to continue our collaborative efforts with Libyan mayors and communities towards a reconstruction process that is resilient, transparent, and inclusive,” stated the embassy.

This initiative is part of a broader US strategy to support Libya in overcoming conflicts and natural disasters, fostering stability, and laying a foundation for long-term development. By working closely with local governments and communities, the US Embassy aims to contribute to a reconstruction effort that rebuilds infrastructure and strengthens the social fabric and economic vitality of Libyan municipalities.
