The Marj Security Directorate announced the liberation of an abducted Egyptian in a house in Marj city after the kidnappers demanded a ransom of 150,000 Libyan dinars.

In a statement on Sunday, the Directorate stated that information reached them regarding the presence of an Egyptian national kidnapped and held captive in a house in Marj city, identified as M.Y. The relatives of the kidnapped person reported that the kidnappers demanded a ransom.

The statement added that before the contact was lost, the abducted person managed to send his location via a location-tracking application. Subsequently, the location was traced using GPS.

Last Thursday, the department members received information indicating that the kidnapped person was brought into the country by an individual named A.M.

The Directorate clarified that the kidnapper, identified as M.A.J., was sentenced in absentia to 25 years for his involvement in a case of an irregular immigration boat sinking in the Talmita area. This resulted in the death of several Egyptian migrants, matching the same description.

Members of the department were tasked with monitoring his house and apprehending him upon his departure. Upon interrogation, he disclosed the whereabouts of the abducted person, mentioning that he demanded a ransom from his family for his release. The abducted person entered the country clandestinely through him.

Consequently, the abduction site was approached, and the operation to liberate the captive person succeeded. Three other Egyptian individuals were found with him and were transferred to the police station.

The abducted person stated that the suspect assaulted him, took his phone after he sent his location, and threatened him. The apprehension of the kidnappers occurred without any casualties. Legal measures were taken against them, and they were referred to the public prosecution.

Last week, Libyan Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency, Al-Tamimi branch, announced the deportation of 95 migrants to both Egypt and Pakistan. According to the media office of the Agency, 20 Pakistani migrants were handed over to the Qanfouda Shelter Centre for deportation via Benghazi International Airport.

Additionally, 75 Egyptian migrants were deported through the Imssaed land border crossing.

The operation was carried out in accordance with the directives of the agency’s chief, Brigadier Nouri Al-Saadi, to combat and eliminate the phenomenon of irregular migration, as stated in the statement.
