Libya has recently witnessed its first-ever spinal deformity correction surgeries performed at Benghazi Medical Centre. Othman Abdul Jalil, the Minister of Health, expressed his deep appreciation for the successful procedures. These mark a significant milestone in the country’s healthcare sector.
The groundbreaking surgeries, conducted as part of the Ministry’s initiative to localise medical treatment, have received substantial support from Prime Minister Osama Hammad. Under the close supervision and follow-up of the Ministry of Health, this project aims to elevate the quality of healthcare services and ensure the provision of exceptional care to Libyan citizens.
During his visit to Benghazi Medical Centre, Minister Abdul Jalil personally inspected the post-surgical conditions of patients who underwent spinal deformity correction procedures. He commended the visiting medical team for their exceptional expertise and the outstanding success achieved in these delicate surgeries.
Spinal deformity correction surgeries are highly intricate procedures, and this marks the first time such operations have been conducted within Libya. Previously, a similar procedure was performed on a smaller scale during a workshop held in the city of Misrata.
Minister Abdul Jalil emphasised that the project to localise medical treatment is part of a broader strategy implemented by the Ministry. This strategy includes various specialised medical programs aimed at enhancing the overall healthcare sector and improving patient care across the country.
The successful completion of these spinal deformity correction surgeries signifies a significant milestone in Libya’s medical history. It not only highlights the remarkable progress achieved within the healthcare sector but also showcases Libya’s commitment to providing its citizens with the highest level of medical care.
As Libya continues to prioritise the advancement of its healthcare system, the Ministry of Health remains dedicated to implementing innovative initiatives and specialised programs that will further elevate the quality of medical services in the country. With the successful localisation of complex medical procedures, Libya is well on its way to becoming a hub for advanced healthcare in the region.
