Libyan Ministry of Health of the Parliament-designate government, Osman Abduljalil has contracted 53 medical personnel from Sudan.

This decision came as part of the committee formed by Abduljalil to contract medical and assistant medical personnel from Sudanese expatriates in the municipality of Kufra and assign them to work in areas facing shortages in medical staff, according to a ministry statement on Tuesday.

The committee, in coordination with the Ministry of Labour and Passports, concluded preliminary contracts with medical personnel after they underwent technical interviews and tests by a specialized medical committee. This batch includes medical personnel specializing in internal medicine, dermatology, pediatrics, emergency medicine, surgery, general nursing, and medical laboratory technicians.

The committee affirmed its continued work in receiving applications and conducting interviews, while the ministry will be responsible for assigning the selected individuals to work in the most needed areas according to the Health Minister’s decision.

Last week, Benghazi Medical Center’s director, Fathiya Al-Oreibi, welcomed an Egyptian medical consultancy team specializing in bone marrow transplantation in Benghazi. Aswaiqer Bozaid, the director of hospital and medical center management at the Ministry of Health of the appointed government by the parliament, stated that the visiting Egyptian team includes four doctors. These physicians are among the first in Egypt to perform bone marrow transplant operations with very high success rates.

The Egyptian delegation conducted a tour of the Benghazi Center, the Children’s Hospital, and the October 15 Hospital to assess the capabilities and requirements for performing spinal cord transplants in Libya.
