On Wednesday, Osama Hammad, Libya’s Prime Minister-designate, convened with Abdel Hakim Abdel Rahman, Mayor of Sousse, and municipal council members to advance reconstruction and infrastructure enhancement projects within the municipality. The focus of the meeting was on urban planning and improving infrastructure as part of a wider strategy to spur economic growth and improve living conditions for citizens through collaborative efforts.
The meeting led to the approval of several infrastructure projects in Sousse, including road paving and repaving, sewage system improvements, street lighting enhancements, and the construction of a new dual-carriageway, adding to ongoing development efforts in the area. Hammad was joined by Belgassim Khalifa Haftar, Director-General of Libya’s Development and Reconstruction Fund, Hatem Al-Araibi, Head of the Reconstruction and Stability Committee, and Abu Bakr Masadef, Deputy Minister of Local Government.
These discussions are aimed at advancing critical infrastructure projects across multiple municipalities to address immediate needs and fulfill long-term development goals. Hammad emphasized the importance of resolving service-related issues, especially those causing traffic congestion, to improve residents’ daily lives.
Following the meeting, the Prime Minister inspected neighborhoods to assess conditions and identify further needs, underscoring the government’s commitment to overseeing development projects nationwide and ensuring the efficient delivery of services to the Libyan people.
This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to rebuild and modernize Libya’s infrastructure to promote economic growth and improve citizens’ quality of life.
