The Libyan Prime Minister-designate Osama Hammad, embarked on an inspection tour of the city. Accompanied by the General Director of the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund, Eng. Belqasim Haftar, and members of Derna’s Social Council, the visit came shortly after the Prime Minister’s Eid prayers, highlighting the government’s commitment to the city’s progress.

During the tour, Prime Minister Hammad was briefed on the ongoing efforts of the Development and Reconstruction Fund. The briefing took place at the fund’s Derna office, inaugurated by the Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, Ageela Saleh, and the Fund’s General Director, showcasing the collaborative efforts towards the city’s reconstruction.

The Prime Minister lauded the comprehensive efforts led by the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, and the Speaker of the House, Ageela Saleh.

Their leadership, along with the administration of the Development and Reconstruction Fund, has propelled Derna into a phase of unprecedented reconstruction after decades of stagnation. Prime Minister Hammad assured that post-Eid al-Adha, the Libyan government would initiate a series of projects targeting the entire nation, with special attention to Derna due to its unique significance.

This initiative includes the establishment of the Derna Reconstruction Fund and areas affected, aimed at completing most of Derna’s projects by the end of the current year. Prime Minister Hammad emphasized the government’s role in utilizing available resources to meet the essential needs of the citizens, ensuring Derna’s and Libya’s brighter future.

This visit not only underscores the Libyan government’s dedication to national development but also spotlights Derna as a focal point for substantial investment and attention, promising a new chapter of prosperity and growth for the city and its residents.
