On Saturday, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan emphasized the strong collaboration between Turkey and Egypt aimed at supporting the sovereignty and unity of Libya.
During a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry, Fidan emphasized the shared vision between the two nations on the political integrity and unity of Libya.
The ministers expressed their committed collaboration to resolve the ongoing conflicts in the region, including efforts to mediate peace in Sudan and to cease the war in Gaza.
Fidan highlighted the coordination between Turkey and Egypt as crucial for establishing foundational peace and stability in Libya, a nation striving for stability after years of internal conflict and division. “Our agreement on Libya’s unity is total, and our joint actions are aimed at fostering a landscape of peace across the region,” Fidan remarked.
The discussion also ventured into broader regional issues, including the escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, which both ministers noted could have severe implications for regional security. Fidan raised concerns about the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the ongoing conflict’s potential to destabilize the Middle East further.
“Turkey, with Egypt’s logistical support, is actively delivering humanitarian aid to Rafah,” Fidan added, underlining the cooperative efforts to mitigate the crisis. He continued to stress the importance of addressing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as central to achieving lasting peace in the region.
“The persistent Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands is a primary source of unrest in the Middle East. Without a recognized independent Palestinian state, the crisis will inevitably escalate,” he stated.
Fidan’s comments underscored the urgent need for a two-state solution to ensure peace and prevent further regional instability. Last month, Libya’s Minister of Transportation, Mohamed Shahoubi announced that Turkish Airlines has officially resumed its operations in Libya, marking a significant milestone with the arrival of its first flight at Mitiga International Airport in the nation’s capital, Tripoli.
This signals a turning point for Libya in stabilizing and securing its aviation sector and reinforcing its ties with the international community.
