Libyan Navy Chief of Staff, Rear Admiral Shuaib Al-Saber Mahmoud, emphasised the significant role of Libyan tribes in supporting and building the Libyan National Army (LNA). He praised their contributions during the “Karama” (Dignity) Operation led by General Commander Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar.

This statement was made during a visit on Tuesday by several sheikhs from the Libyan Organization of Tribes of Ashraf and Murabitin to the Benghazi Naval Base. The visit aimed to reinforce social ties.

The sheikhs were welcomed by Rear Admiral Shuaib Al-Saber Mahmoud, Commander of the Benghazi Naval Base Brigadier General Obeid Masoud Jouda, and several officers, according to the Navy Chief of Staff’s Media Office.

In their speeches, the sheikhs highlighted the importance of the armed forces, particularly the navy, in defending and protecting Libya’s coasts.

They noted that historically, the coasts have posed significant threats to Libya. They also emphasised the sea’s economic value, including its wealth of resources and energy sources, which contribute to Libya’s food security.

The sheikhs commended the navy’s role in the “Karama” Operation, expressing their pride in the navy’s national efforts to protect Libyan coasts since its inception, despite current material constraints.

At the end of the visit, the sheikhs toured the naval base aboard the patrol boat “Akramah,” where they observed the base’s facilities, docks, floating dock, and patrol boats.

On Tuesday, the General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, highlighted the crucial role of Libyan tribes in achieving national reconciliation and lasting stability.

This came during his meeting with a delegation of Sheikhs, dignitaries, and intellectuals from Zintan, as reported by the LNA’s media office.

The Zintan leaders expressed their pride and appreciation for Haftar’s efforts toward the unity and stability of Libya.

They acknowledged the pivotal role of the Libyan National Army Forces in maintaining security across the country. They also praised the recent surge in urban development and reconstruction projects, attributing these achievements to Haftar’s directives on advancing developmental initiatives and essential services.

The leaders voiced their hope that reconstruction projects would soon commence in Zintan and the western mountain regions, as noted in a Facebook post by the LNA’s media office.
