Khaled Al-Mousi, the Director of Awareness and Communication, held a meeting with advisors from the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) and awareness coordinators from the electoral administration offices. The virtual meeting focused on developing a comprehensive awareness plan for the upcoming municipal council elections.

The High National Elections Commission (HNEC) stated that the meeting addressed several key issues, including strategies for raising awareness about the municipal elections and the challenges that coordinators might face. Participants discussed the coordination mechanisms with partners to effectively implement awareness campaigns for the municipal council elections. A clear methodology for communication and interaction with coordinators and election process partners was emphasized to ensure a smooth awareness operation.

This meeting is part of the broader preparations for opening the voter registry for the municipal elections. The initiative aims to engage and inform the public about the electoral process, ensuring higher voter turnout and a well-informed electorate.

Among the attendees were Abdulraouf Shanab, Head of the Communication Department, Aisha Thubut, Head of the Awareness Department, and Magda Al-Kateb, the official responsible for the Unit for the Support of Persons with Disabilities. These participants played a crucial role in the discussions, contributing insights and strategies to overcome potential obstacles in the awareness campaign.

The HNEC is committed to facilitating a transparent and accessible election process. The involvement of various stakeholders, including UNSMIL advisors and local coordinators, underscores the collaborative effort required to enhance voter education and participation. The focus is not only on raising awareness but also on addressing the needs of all segments of society, including persons with disabilities.

This concerted effort is vital for the successful conduct of the municipal elections. By engaging multiple stakeholders and leveraging modern communication tools, the HNEC aims to ensure that all eligible voters are informed and encouraged to participate in the electoral process. The discussions also highlighted the importance of using diverse channels to reach different demographics, ensuring that the awareness campaigns are inclusive and effective.

As the voter registration process is set to commence, the HNEC’s proactive approach in planning and coordination is expected to play a pivotal role in the successful execution of the municipal elections.
