Libya’s Minister of Economy and Trade in the Government of National Unity (GNU), Mohamed Al-Hwaij, held discussions on organising commercial activities in the municipalities of Jadu and Nalut. The meeting included the mayors of the two municipalities and was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Libyan International Company for Development and Investment Holding, Al-Sadiq Al-Lab.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Economy on Wednesday, the discussions centred on a proposal to establish a specialised industrial zone in Jadu and Nalut. This initiative aims to boost local investment by leveraging the natural resources of the municipalities to develop agricultural and industrial projects, thus contributing to the national economy.
The mayors presented a plan to create the industrial zone in collaboration with the Ministries of Economy and Trade and Local Governance. This initiative is part of efforts to stimulate trade activities with neighbouring countries, localise industries, create job opportunities, and support regional development.
The proposal includes establishing an industrial zone to enhance economic activity in the region. This zone is expected to attract investments and support local industries, ultimately fostering economic growth and stability. By utilising the natural resources in Jadu and Nalut, the project aims to create value-added agricultural and industrial projects that will significantly benefit the national economy.
Al-Hwaij emphasised the importance of such initiatives in driving economic development and creating sustainable job opportunities. He assured that the Ministry of Economy and Trade would provide the necessary support and facilitate coordination between the relevant ministries to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
This initiative aligns with the broader goals of the Government of National Unity to enhance economic stability, promote local industries, and improve living standards by creating job opportunities and fostering regional development. The proposed industrial zone is expected to play a crucial role in achieving these objectives by stimulating economic activities and attracting investments to Jadu and Nalut.
