On Thursday, Libya’s Prime Minister of the Parliament-designated government, Osama Hammad announced that the government is making steady strides towards change, development, and reconstruction through its various executive tools.
Hammad met with Belgassim Haftar, the Director-General of the Libyan Reconstruction and Development Fund, and Hatem al-Oraibi to head the Medical Supply and Treatment Services Authority, along with directors of hospitals and medical centers at the agency’s headquarters.
During the meeting, Hammad emphasized the government’s commitment to providing essential services and meeting the needs of citizens, particularly in the health sector. This includes restructuring the Medical Supply and Therapeutic Services Agency to improve its efficiency and management.
Hammad stated, “Positive changes, whether in the health sector or in broader development and reconstruction, are our goal. The government aims to achieve this through tools like the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund and the Medical Supply Agency.”
He added, “We are making steady progress in all fields through effective executive tools.” Hammad also highlighted the imminent opening of a specialized oncology center, equipped with top-tier medical facilities, thanks to the efforts of the Medical Supply Agency.
The Libyan PM explained that many hospitals and medical units have been established, maintained, and equipped through the efforts of the Derna City Reconstruction Fund and other affected areas, as well as the Reconstruction and Stability Committee.
He praised the Committee for Localizing Treatment within the Ministry of Health for performing critical surgeries and thanked hospitals, health units, medical staff, and administrative personnel for their dedication and commitment.
Libya has faced numerous challenges since the 2011 uprising that led to the ousting of Muammar Gaddafi. The subsequent conflict has severely impacted the country’s infrastructure, especially the health sector, leaving hospitals and clinics with severe shortages.
The government led by Osama Hammad is addressing these issues by prioritizing the health sector. Their focus includes restructuring medical supply agencies and improving hospital services, aiming to restore stability and enhance the quality of life for Libyan citizens.
Efforts to rebuild and develop Libya extend beyond healthcare. The3 government is also working on infrastructure projects, improving public services, and fostering economic growth. The Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund plays a crucial role in these efforts.
