On Sunday, protests broke out in the heart of the Libyan capital, Tripoli, against the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL).

Protesters called on the company’s officials to step down and form a new board of directors to reduce the continuous power blackouts, witnesses told the “Sada” newspaper.

Tripoli has been witnessing continuous blackouts lasting more than 12 hours in some areas and 20 hours in other areas.
