On Tuesday, the Libyan Prime Minister of the Parliament-designate government, Osama Hammad, announced the dispatch of medical supplies and general medicines to the southern region.
This action was taken under the directives of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander of the Libyan National Army.
In a statement, the government revealed that the shipment aimed to meet all the needs of medical centers and hospitals in the southern region.
The supplies reached the warehouses on Monday.
The shipments include general medical supplies, surgical equipment, intensive care, and maternity ward necessities, as well as general medicines, injections, and laboratory supplies.
The Libyan Premier clarified that this initiative is part of a plan devised by Hatem al-Oraibi, Director General of the Medical Supply and Therapeutic Services Department, to ensure that all medical centers and hospitals are adequately equipped.
Libya’s southern region has faced significant healthcare challenges due to ongoing political instability, conflict, and neglect. The area, often underserved, has seen a critical shortage of medical supplies and services, exacerbating the difficulties faced by healthcare providers and patients alike.
This recent move by the Hammad government, under the directives of Khalifa Haftar, is a strategic effort to address these shortages and improve healthcare delivery in the south.
The healthcare infrastructure in southern Libya has been severely impacted by years of conflict and neglect.
Hospitals and medical centers often lack basic supplies, equipment, and medicines, making it difficult to provide adequate care. The recent shipment of medical supplies is a much-needed intervention to address these gaps.
The supplies, including surgical equipment, intensive care necessities, and laboratory materials, are critical for improving patient care and supporting medical professionals in the region.
The initiative by the Hammad government is part of a broader effort to stabilize and develop Libya’s southern region.
By addressing immediate healthcare needs, the government aims to build trust and improve the living conditions of the local population. This move also aligns with international efforts to support Libya’s health sector.
