The Newly appointed Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aaty emphasised his country’s commitment to continuous communication and coordination with Algeria regarding the Libyan crisis during a phone call with his Algerian counterpart, Ahmed Attaf.
According to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdel Aaty received a call from the Algerian minister to discuss Arab and regional issues of mutual interest, with the Libyan crisis at the forefront.
The Egyptian and Algerian ministers also discussed mechanisms to strengthen joint cooperation in economic fields, boost investments, enhance trade exchange, and coordinate between Algeria and Egypt regarding shared regional and international challenges.
The Algerian official expressed his country’s full support and solidarity with Egypt at various levels and looked forward to continuing close cooperation and coordination, both bilaterally and in efforts to enhance joint Arab action, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Stakeholders involved in the Libyan issue are trying to help Libyan politicians reach a consensus to hold the postponed presidential and parliamentary elections. Meanwhile, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), represented by Stephanie Khoury, is making efforts to bring together Libyan factions through numerous discussions in the east, west, and south, aiming to establish a solid foundation for the elections, in response to the wishes of the Libyan people.
During her meeting with Al-Haddad in Tripoli, Khoury emphasized the importance of unifying state institutions, particularly security institutions, and called for enhancing political consensus and unifying the country’s institutions to meet the needs of the Libyan people and preserve Libya’s sovereignty, according to a post by UNSMIL.
