Major General Saddam Haftar, the Chief of Staff of the Libyan Ground Forces of the Libyan National Army (LNA) welcomed back the Libyan hunters who had been detained by Chadian authorities.
Their release and return to Libya came after intervention by the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, who worked to uncover their fate and secure their return nearly a month after their detention.
The Libyan Army’s Military Information Division stated that the hunters returned aboard a special plane arranged by the General Command.
Last month, Saddam Haftar made an official visit to Chad.
Representing Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, LNA’s Commander-in-Chief, he was welcomed by General Omar Deby, Director General of Strategic Reserves, and Major General Suleiman Lony, Chief of Chadian Intelligence.
During his visit, Saddam Haftar met with Chad’s President, Mohamed Idriss Deby, conveying congratulations from the Libyan military leader on Deby’s election victory.
The meeting included discussions on common interests between Libya and Chad. They explored ways to enhance cooperation and coordination in military, security, and economic sectors to benefit both nations. Saddam Haftar emphasised the importance of strengthening bilateral relations to achieve regional security and stability.
He highlighted the significance of military cooperation between Libya and Chad, noting that it is crucial for bolstering regional security. The discussions also touched on expanding this cooperation to include other areas that would serve the interests of both countries.
He reiterated Libya’s commitment to building strong strategic relations with Chad. He stressed the importance of continuous coordination to ensure the security and prosperity of both nations.
The official visit concluded with both parties reaffirming that enhanced bilateral relations will contribute to regional development and stability, with an optimistic outlook for further fruitful cooperation in the future.
