On Tuesday, the Director of Zawiya’s Security, Ali Khalifa Al-Lafi, met with the head of the Criminal Investigation Department in Zawiya, Mohamed Salem Bahron (known as “Al-Faar”).

Bahron is one of the most prominent militia leaders aligned to the Government of National Accord (GNA).

The meeting addressed ways to establish a mechanism for visiting prisons inmates in light of the COVID-19 crisis.

During the meeting that was held at the headquarters of the Zawiya Security Directorate, the two sides discussed extremist organizations, corruption, and crimes taking place in the city.

‘Al-Faar’ is wanted by the Libyan Public Prosecution on the instructions of the head of the Bureau of Investigation at the General Prosecutor’s office. This is over a case regarding allegations that he is a member of IS in the city of Sabratah.

Arrested members belonging to IS confirmed that ‘Al-Faar’ was cooperating with the organization, providing logistical services to them, in addition to smuggling and harboring them.

The members of IS who revealed their relationship with ‘Al-Faar’ were Ahmed Salem Al-Falah, known as ‘Abu Al-Laith Allibi’, and Ahmed Mesbah Jaber.
