The Benghazi International Construction Fair (BICCF) commenced on Monday, marked by the attendance of Deputy Prime Minister of the Libyan Parliament-designate government, Ali Al-Qatrani.
The forum is a specialised trade event focusing on the construction and building industries in Benghazi, Derna, Sirte, Sabha, and Murzuq. It aims to foster communication and collaboration among companies and professionals within the construction sector, facilitating trade and technical cooperation.
With participation from over 60 local and international companies, the fair seeks to enhance interaction and communication between Libyan participants and those from friendly countries. The goal is to encourage the exchange of ideas and integrate efforts in the construction industry.
The event highlights the latest technologies and innovations in construction, contributing to technological advancement and improving building processes. It also provides a platform to enhance business opportunities and expand sustainable commercial partnerships.
The forum is being held from 22 to 25 July at the exhibition grounds in the Hawari area of Benghazi. It is sponsored by the Municipality of Benghazi, the Benghazi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Libyan Export Development Centre.
The event also saw the presence of the Minister of Transport, Abdulhakim Al-Ghizoui, and consuls from Egypt, Italy, Syria, Ghana, and Morocco, alongside security officials and the president and members of the Benghazi Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture.
On 21 January, the government appointed by the House of Representatives, led by Osama Hamad, announced the signing of “major contracts” with Egyptian companies to construct 11 new bridges. These projects are spread across Derna, Benghazi, and Ajdabiya, with six in Derna and three in Benghazi.
The signing ceremony was attended by Hatem Al-Aribi, Chairman of the Reconstruction and Stability Committee; Belkacem Khalifa Haftar, Executive Director of the Derna Reconstruction Fund; and Ibrahim Al-Argani, Chairman of Neom. Also present was Hani Dhahi, Chairman of Wadi El-Nile Company.
These developments mark a significant step in Libya’s ongoing efforts to rebuild and develop key infrastructure, with strong support from Egyptian firms. The collaboration is expected to bolster the reconstruction process in the affected cities and enhance the overall development of the region.
