A high-level delegation from Algerian Civil Aviation arrived at Mitiga International Airport to conduct a comprehensive security and operational audit.
This visit aims to ensure that the airport’s procedures comply with international standards, paving the way for the potential resumption of flights between Algeria and Libya.
The delegation toured the airport facilities, scrutinising security and operational procedures. The primary goal is to enhance the services offered at the airport and ensure the safety of air travel.
The delegation’s audit includes verifying the readiness of security and safety systems, such as security equipment and inspection procedures, and reviewing operational processes to ensure smooth and efficient airport operations.
The head of the Algerian delegation highlighted that the visit is focused on assessing the preparedness and equipment at Mitiga International Airport. He emphasised the Algerian Civil Aviation’s commitment to supporting joint efforts in enhancing security and safety across all airports.
This initiative marks a significant step towards strengthening aviation ties between Algeria and Libya, demonstrating a shared commitment to upholding high standards in aviation safety and service quality.
The audit results will determine the feasibility of resuming direct flights, which is anticipated to boost connectivity and economic ties between the two neighbouring countries.
The visit also underscores the importance of international cooperation in the aviation sector, particularly in regions striving to improve their infrastructure and safety protocols. With Algeria’s support, Libya aims to elevate its aviation standards, ensuring that its airports meet global benchmarks and provide safe and efficient travel experiences for passengers.
The successful completion of this audit could herald a new era of enhanced aviation collaboration and connectivity between Algeria and Libya, benefiting both nations’ economic and social landscapes.
