Benghazi Municipality in Libya has announced plans to launch a postal addressing project aimed at establishing infrastructure for locally and internationally usable postal codes.
This initiative includes numbering buildings and creating comprehensive postal addresses to keep up with global advancements in this field.
On Sunday morning, Nasser Bel-Aid Al-Ujli, Deputy Director of the Benghazi Municipality, held a meeting at the municipal headquarters with Khaled Al-Fakhri, Director of Postal Services for Benghazi at Libya Post. Representatives from security agencies and several municipal office and department heads also attended.
The meeting focused on preparations for the postal addressing project, which aims to establish infrastructure for postal codes usable both locally and globally.
This initiative aligns with the municipality’s strategic plan for digital transformation and smart city development, facilitating the provision of advanced postal services.
A comprehensive field survey will be conducted to create a complete postal address system, including building numbering and database construction.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to circulate the necessary procedures to all relevant authorities and set a date for installing the first postal address plaque.
The initial phase will target specific locations, with the goal of eventually encompassing all buildings in Benghazi.
