On Tuesday, Libya’s Ground Forces, under the directive of Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, launched critical operations to address the aftermath of devastating flash floods in the country’s southwestern regions.

The military’s efforts focus on disinfecting and spraying affected areas, an essential step to combat the severe public health risks due to stagnant water and increased insect activity.

The Ground Forces have been working closely with local communities to mitigate the impact of these floods. The operations, overseen directly by the Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces, are being carried out by the Tarek Ben Ziyad Brigade, which has been instrumental in executing these crucial interventions.

In their official statement, the LNA-affiliated Ground Forces emphasized the importance of their response, noting that floods can significantly damage infrastructure and pose serious health risks. The military’s operations aim to prevent the spread of diseases and ensure that residents can safely return to their daily lives.

These efforts reflect the Libyan military’s commitment to social responsibility, as they provide vital support to the flood-affected areas. The Ground Forces’ humanitarian approach underscores their dedication to protecting the Libyan people during times of crisis.

The operations include the disinfection of streets and homes, creating a safer environment for the communities impacted by the floods. The Tarek Ben Ziyad Brigade’s efforts are critical in reducing potential health risks and ensuring the well-being of citizens in the southwestern regions.

The southwestern regions of Libya have been hit hard by recent flash floods, which have caused significant damage to infrastructure and have posed a serious threat to public health. These floods are part of a larger pattern of extreme weather events that have increasingly affected Libya, driven in part by climate change and the country’s insufficient infrastructure.

In response to these natural disasters, the Libyan military has taken on a broader role, not only in national defense but also in providing essential humanitarian assistance. Under the leadership of Field Marshal Haftar, the Ground Forces have been particularly active in these efforts, recognizing the need to support civilian populations during such crises.
