On Thursday, Libya’s Minister of Electricity, Awad Al-Badri, officially inaugurated the Al-Kuweifiya Central Power Station in Benghazi.
This newly constructed facility, operating at a capacity of 11-30 kV, is strategically positioned in the Al-Kuweifiya area within the city. The station is poised to meet the increasing electricity demands of Benghazi, particularly in its coastal neighborhoods.
The Ministry of Electricity has highlighted that the Al-Kuweifiya Power Station is fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology tailored to address the region’s growing energy needs. The installation of advanced equipment is a key feature of this project, aimed at improving the station’s efficiency and operational reliability.
Before the station was brought online, it underwent a series of rigorous operational tests to ensure its ability to handle electrical loads effectively, thereby guaranteeing a stable and reliable power supply.
This new power station represents a major enhancement to Benghazi’s electrical grid. It is expected to significantly improve the electricity supply to several districts, including Al-Kuweifiya, Side Kalifa, Side Mansour, Bouhadi, and parts of the northern coastal region.
The station will play a crucial role in reducing pressure on the existing power network, addressing issues such as low voltage and fluctuating electricity. By balancing the electrical load more effectively, the Al-Kuweifiya station will help minimize power outages and improve the overall stability of the electricity supply in Benghazi.
As Benghazi continues to recover and rebuild, the opening of the Al-Kuweifiya Power Station marks a positive step forward in the city’s development, ensuring that residents and businesses have access to a more reliable and stable electricity supply. This project underscores Libya’s ongoing efforts to upgrade its energy infrastructure and improve the quality of life for its citizens.
