The Director-General of the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund, Belgassim Khalifa Haftar, announced on Wednesday the fund’s full commitment to the reconstruction of the historic city of Derna. This statement coincides with the first anniversary of Storm Daniel, which struck the cities and areas of the Green Mountain.

Haftar promised, “Derna will flourish again and be even better than before with our collective determination and unwavering resolve. We will work diligently with all concerned parties to provide all necessary resources for rebuilding the infrastructure and achieving sustainable development that Derna deserves.”

In his statement, Haftar emphasised, “The reconstruction journey has already begun, and we are tirelessly continuing our efforts to restore life to Derna. This resilient city will rise once more.”

He further noted that Derna will become a model for the entire country, returning to its former glory, thriving, and ready to face the future with confidence and strength.
