The Libyan Attorney General’s Office has announced the arrest of 37 Nigerians involved in organized criminal gangs who illegally entered the country and engaged in criminal activities.
According to the office, intelligence reports indicated that illegal migrants were gathering for the purpose of coordinating criminal activities, including those managed by international crime organizations.
The office further revealed that these organizations included the Supreme Vikings, MS, Aye, the Black Axe, and the New Black Movement of Africa. Investigations revealed that 35 illegal migrants were directly linked to these groups, which operate out of Nigeria as their headquarters for criminal operations.
The investigation also uncovered that these individuals were involved in practicing witchcraft and using it in human trafficking. They were implicated in forcing migrants to perform domestic labor, running prostitution rings, trafficking women internationally, organizing illegal migration to North Mediterranean countries, kidnapping, drug trafficking, and robbery.
As part of the same operation, intelligence officers successfully apprehended the 37 suspects, including the leader of the Viking group in Libya.
The Attorney General’s Office noted that investigators confirmed the infiltration of these criminal organizations into Libyan territory, establishing networks that involve hundreds of illegal migrants. These criminal activities are aligned with mafia organizations operating in the Mediterranean region. All suspects have been detained and referred to the judiciary for trial.
