The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, has welcomed recent Libyan agreements that resolved the crisis surrounding the Central Bank of Libya.
According to his official spokesperson, Jamal Rushdy, Aboul Gheit expressed optimism over the appointment of new leadership for the Central Bank and the formation of a new board of directors.
The spokesperson highlighted the Secretary-General’s hope that this agreement will restore confidence among international financial institutions.
He also expressed optimism that it will contribute to the resumption of Libya’s oil production and exports, preventing further negative impacts on the Libyan economy and its citizens.
Rushdy emphasised the Arab League’s satisfaction with these positive developments. He reiterated the organisation’s commitment to supporting Libya, while ensuring its unity and sovereignty, and preventing external interference in its affairs.
The recent breakthrough is expected to have significant effects on Libya’s economic recovery. With the resolution of the Central Bank leadership dispute, Libya is now in a better position to stabilise its financial institutions and restart oil exports, a vital source of revenue for the country. This development could also lead to greater international support and investment, fostering economic growth and stability for Libya.
The Arab League’s endorsement of these efforts signals a growing regional focus on supporting Libya’s return to stability and development, as the country continues to navigate its complex political and economic landscape.
