Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, urged the international community to assist all Libyans in reaching a political process that leads to a unified government.

Speaking at the UN Security Council meeting on Libya on Wednesday, Nebenzya emphasized that Libya’s future depends on finding common ground to resolve the ongoing crisis and warned that the country should not become a battleground for international disputes.

The Russian envoy stressed the importance of unifying Libya’s armed forces across the entire country.

He reaffirmed Russia’s continued support for a balanced and gradual withdrawal of foreign armed groups from Libya.

Nebenzya expressed surprise at the Western nations’ reactions to disruptions in Libya’s oil supplies, noting that there are more pressing priorities, including the country’s stability.

He concluded by stating that the situation in Libya will only improve through a comprehensive political process.
